Monokang FC head coach Alieu Suwareh has expressed his delight after guiding the club to their first-ever Brikama Sports Committee Knockout League final, reaffirming that his mission has always been to compete for titles.
Alieu Suwareh, who took charge after the team’s former coach resigned just before the start of the Nawettan, said he immediately set high ambitions for the group.
“Since I stepped up as the head coach, my objective has been to compete for titles and not just to participate and Alhamdulilah, we are in the Knockout final,” he said.
The coach also reflected on a difficult moment earlier in the campaign when Monokang FC failed to advance past the group stages of the league competition. He revealed that he had to rally the squad to remain focused.
“When we could not make it beyond the group stages of the league, it was a difficult moment for the group. At some point, I had to go to the players and tell them it is not all over since we still had the Knockout to play for. I reminded them that even if we were out of the league, we still had a chance and today, we are in the final.”
Monokang FC will now look to crown their remarkable turnaround with a historic trophy in the Brikama Sports Committee Knockout Final.
