Assiatou Jallow, mother of the slain staff of Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lamarana Jallow, today wept in the high court as she gave testimony in her son’s death.

Lamarana Jallow was allegedly killed by his longtime girlfriend, Kumba Sinyan, at the Bakau Friendship hostel in September 2022.

Sinyan has since been charged with murder and remanded at Mile Two Prison.

Mrs Jallow wept in court before the defence lawyer Sagar Twum cross-examined her.

She told the court that she saw Kumba Sinyan for the first time in court and all the time they only spoke over the phone, adding that she was not aware of any confrontation between her deceased son and Kumba Sinyan.

The defence lawyer further asked the witness if she has ever given a statement on this case to the police, and she replied yes.

The witness’ police statement was tendered and marked as defence exhibit.

The case continues.
