The National Human Rights Commission says it has completed its investigations into the case of Gorgi Mboob head of the Police Anti-Crime Unit who is facing allegations of torture and assault.  

“NHRC Gambia in partnership with The Gambia Bar Association, the Police, Ministry of Interior & TANGO concluded investigations into alleged assault/torture against the Commander of the Anti-Crime Unit, Deputy Commissioner Gorgi Mboob,” the Commission said in a press statement. 

“The joint panel received testimonies from 17 witnesses from August 17th to August 29th 2020. Based on the facts presented, recommendations have been made to the Government and a response is expected within 30 days as stated in the NHRC Act 2017.”

“The findings and recommendations of the joint investigation will be communicated to the relevant authorities within the statutory (30 days) period and the general public will be duly informed,” the Commission added.
