Notorious Guinean criminal seeks forgiveness from Jesus Badjie

A Gambia-based Guinean national, one of the most feared criminals in The Gambia, has confessed to lying against police commissioner Ensa Jesus Badjie.

Soriba Conde, who is serving jail term for criminal acts like robbery, told the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) he was coerced to lie against Mr Badjie at a court hearing, saying if he failed to have lie he wouldn’t have being here by now.

He is said to have 9 months remaining to complete his jail term at the country’s central prison at Mile Two.

“Even when I was in Janjabureh, I sent one officer – Bojang to him, I know where he is listening to me that Jesus to forgive me because what I have done against him, I regretted it,” he said.

“That’s why for me to come here and lie here is not my benefits because if I was coming here to lie, I wouldn’t have come here to testify by holding the Qur’an.”

He added: “They knew that the allegation they were levelling against this guy was not true, even myself and Landing Tombong we went to the IGP’s office and he said this is not true.

Conde said “But when Jesus became an IGP and had a problem with them and they came and took me to the prosecutors and said what do you know about this. Even the first prosecutor was sacked.”

“The prosecutors there even know it is not true because they were the ones teaching me what I should say.”

“I am seeking forgiveness from Jesus Badjie to forgive me. I am ready for change that’s why I came here to testify.”
