National Unity Party (NUP) spokesperson Saidina Abubacarr Jarjou has dismissed speculation about the longevity of the UNITE-NUP Alliance, saying the partnership is built on “mutual trust, shared commitment, mutual respect and unwavering patriotism”.

Jarjou said the alliance was not formed out of political convenience and would withstand criticism and scepticism.

“Our resolve to provide Gambians with a credible, competent, and accountable alternative remains unshaken,” he said.

The NUP spokesperson said the alliance respected citizens’ right to express their views but maintained that criticism would not undermine its objectives.

“We remain focused, united, and resolute in our mission to put our country on a pedestal of hope,” Jarjou said.

He added: “Be rest assured, this alliance is here to stay.”

The statement comes amid online commentary questioning the durability of the UNITE-NUP Alliance.
