The Coalition Task Force, bringing together a broad alliance of opposition parties and civil society organisations, has concluded its third strategic session, marking a fresh step towards building a united front ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle.

The meeting focused on strengthening key governance structures needed to support coordination, transparency and electoral readiness.

Delegates held extensive discussions and reached agreement on several critical areas.

Members carried out a detailed review of the coalition’s proposed Code of Conduct, incorporating enforcement mechanisms and penalty provisions. The framework is expected to promote discipline, accountability and mutual respect among coalition partners.

The coalition also moved forward with plans to develop a shared policy platform. The General Assembly mandated the Coalition Mediation Committee to continue engagements with other groups to broaden participation and prevent fragmentation.

Work has already begun on drafting a unified governance agenda to guide the coalition’s campaign.

Updates were presented on an ongoing legal review into alleged voter registration irregularities. The coalition said the process reflects its commitment to ensuring a free, fair and transparent electoral environment.

A proposed timetable for the Coalition Transitional Mechanism Committee (CTMC), covering May to September 2026, will be circulated to stakeholders to support implementation of agreed activities.

The fourth strategic session is scheduled for Saturday, 9 May 2026, and will be hosted by the APP Sobeyaa Political Party. The venue will be announced later.

In its closing remarks, the Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to unity, inclusiveness and democratic values, emphasising the need for collective action in the national interest.

Further updates are expected as consultations continue.
