The outgoing British high commissioner says the United Kingdom will continue to support The Gambia’s democratic transition, as she expresses optimism about the country’s future.

“The UK will continue to render its unflinching support to the transition journey,” Sharon Wardle, who completed her three years diplomatic tour of duty, told President Adama Barrow in a farewell ceremony at State House on Tuesday.

She added: “We have seen and been through a lot over the past three years. Of course, many challenges remain but I am optimistic about the future.”

She also implored Gambians to support  the democratic transition, adding the next 12-18 months will be crucial to The Gambia.
