Police Adviser Pa Musa Jobarteh has been appointed as the new deputy Director General of the State Intelligence Services (SIS). He replaces Musa Dibba, who is redeployed to the State House as the Deputy National Security Adviser.

Mr. Jobarteh served as Adviser at the Gambia Police Force from 2017 to date. During former president Jammeh’s era, Pa Musa Jobarteh returned from America and was appointed as Commissioner at the Gambia Immigration Department, when Tamsir Jasseh was director general.

He was later fired due to an alleged passport scandal and he travelled to the UK until 2017 when he decided to come back.  Mr Jobarteh was then appointed as Police Adviser at Police Headquarters in Banjul, the position he held until his recent appointment.

However, sources say, most of the staff of the SIS are not happy with Musa Dibba’s redeployment due to his hard work and dedication. They described him as “an honest and professional officer”.

In another development, Saikou Ceesay, the deputy director of Analysis at the SIS has been appointed as Director at the Office of the National Security Adviser. He joined Musa Dibba and Momodou Badjie at the State House. Ceesay’s appointment took effect last week.
