Police have arrested 9 people suspected of collecting disposed chicken at Abuko Nature Reserve for sell. 

Police said its officers from “the Anti-crime Unit reacted to a scoop allegedly involving certain people who were collecting discarded cartons of spoiled chicken at Abuko Nature Reserve, leading to the arrest of nine suspected individuals at the scene.” 

“It is believed that these not-fit-for-consumption chicken would be processed and sold to the public, an act which is illegal and has the potential to wreck public health havoc.

“Police have opened up an independent investigation to uncover the full extent of the matter. While the investigation progresses, the police have buffered the area from unauthorized access, stationing officers at the site to allow relevant authorities to take over for proper disposal,” police said.

According to the police, they are closely collaborating with the Food Safety and Quality Authority (FSQA) to adequately deal with the matter and ensure the reoccurrence of such acts is averted.
