Police are searching for a Gunjur man alleged to have assaulted an officer with a cutlass causing grievous bodily harm. 

The suspect identified as Jatta Sanyang is alledged to have attacked the police officer who was investigating a land dispute. 

According to report the suspect is said to have had a dispute with one Abdou Touray over a plot of land Jatta claimed belonged to him. Jatta was said to have drove Abdou from the disputed plot of land as he went to inspect it.

A police officer was reported to have been attacked as he investigated the land dispute. 

Police spokesman ASP Lamin Njie said: “Our officer was attacked and seriously injured with a cutlass by one Jatta Sanyang from Berending village after he went to fine out a reported land case report brought to their station.

“The allege person after casuing bodily harm to the officer then absconded and went into hiding,” he added.
