Police today launched a crackdown on stray animals after safety concern about their dangers to the public.

“The general public particularly owners of these livestock and cattle are hereby strictly urged to restrain and control their animals.

“The public is further informed that the IGP’s Office in collaboration with The Gambia Livestock Management Agency and Cattle Farmers Association will commence an operation to ensure there are no stray animals within the Greater Banjul Area particularly at public places,” police said on Wednesday.

“Stray animals found roaming around public places will be captured and restrained at an identified location. Consequently, for owners to regain their animals, penalties will be awarded in accordance with the law,” police added.
