Police have rejectes scandal claims at its headquarters as “misleading and malicious” and asked the public in reporting the person who peddles the claim on social media.

“The attention of The Office of the Inspector General of Police has been drawn to a publication on a facebook page with the profile name ‘ I Paid A Bribe’.

“However, the writer claimed that there was a huge scandal at the Police Headquaters, alleging The Inspector General of Police, Abdoulie Sanyang of being involved in a D100 million fraud further claiming that the IGP is planning to leave the country.

“This allegation is not only misleading but malicious in all forms and those behind this blatant and unimaginable fabrications are hell bent on tarnishing the image of our great IGP who’s reputable character and loyalty to the Gambian people is unquestionable,” police said.

“Since his appointment as IGP in April 2021, Abdoulie Sanyang did a lot in transforming the GPF to one of the best police forces in the sub region and that personnel of the force have benefitted immensely both in capacity building and welfare. The IGP is concerned with consolidating the gains and achievements registered under his tenure.

“Therefore, any allegation of corruption is only calculated with smear intentions to hurt the reputable image of IGP Sanyang. Meanwhile, the general public is hereby urged to report those behind this facebook page by sending us information or details about them through our POLISO Magazine page or on our,” police added.
