Police have step up patrols in the Greater Banjul and Westcoast Region after rise in violent crimes.

In a statement, police say they have 24/7 patrols and response service within the areas as they consolidate the gains of Operation Zero Crime.

The patrols started Friday (September 24).

“A toll free emergency helpline for members of the public to report crime and request for response services will soon be introduced.

“The general public is urged to collaborate and partner in sharing of information relating to unusual activities within their communities for quick response and intervention,” the police said.

Gambians recently decried the rise in violent crime in the Greater Banjul Area and called on the government to tackle the issue.
