The leadership of opposition People’s Progressive Party has criticised President Adama Barrow for breaching an agreement with them after his re-election last year.

PPP was among the opposition political parties that campaigned and supported the re-election of Barrow.

However, PPP leader Kebba Jallow has accused Barrow of betraying their agreement after covertly entering into agreement with APRC and NRP to put up candidates for the upcoming local government elections.

“We respected our agreement with President Barrow but President Barrow betrayed that agreement. But that’s fine,” he told Gambiana.

Meanwhile, Mr Jallow said they are fully committed to put candidates across the country to contest the upcoming local government elections after the fallout with President Barrow’s party.

“We will put up many candidates and even if we are going to win only one seat that seat will lead us to State House in the next presidential election.

“There are other political parties that approach to work with us and we are willing to work with them,” he said.
