President Adama Barrow today kicked off his nationwide tour to “thank the Gambian people” for his re-election.

Barrow told reporters in Banjul his tour will also be a campaign for his party’s parliamentary candidates.

“We are embarking on our national campaign again, but this time is to go and thank the people for voting [for] me [in office] for my second time which is a vote of confidence,” he said.

“That means the people have trust in me and I think now is very, very clear which party is the biggest party whom the Gambian people choose to rule this country for the next five years, but I cannot rule it alone.

“I have partners [and] the partners have to be the National Assembly members so that’s why I am embarking on this tour to support [them] and also thank the Gambian people for the trust and confidence and assure them that we will continue development that we started and we are sure we can do more than what we did during the first term,” he added.
