Supreme Court Chief Justice Hassan Jallow

Momodou Sabally, former secretary general, has called on the Chief Justice Hassan Jallow to resign over what he termed as “incompetence” in running the country’s judiciary.

Sabally, now a staunch member of opposition United Democratic Party, was speaking on Bob Keita’s rape case where he asked for fair trial and justice.

He lashed out at the judiciary for the long delay of justice in the rape trial that has been going on for almost two years.

“The law must be executed as it should if the Chief Justice Hassan Jallow cannot do his job, let him resign. I, Momodou Sabally say, let Hassan Jallow resign and we replace him with someone who can run our judiciary,” he said.

“Because the judiciary is not a place for jokes. This is not about politics. What we want is let justice be served because what happens to Bob Keita can happen to anyone tomorrow.

“Therefore, we should all stand up and fight for justice in this case that is all we are asking for,” he added.

He continued: “I am not here to castigate anyone, but all we want is let justice be served rightly, and we will fight for justice in this case up to the letter.”
