Former Inspector General of The Gambia Police, Essa Badjie, has been reappointed as police commissioner.

Mr Badjie, popular known as “Jesus”, is now the Crime Management Coordinator (CMC) of the police force.

Police spokesperson, ASP Lamin Njie, confirmed Mr Badjie’s appointment.
”We can confirm the reappointment of Essa Badjie known as Jesus – former IGP by the personal management office as Police Commissioner.”

Mr Badjie has already taken up his post at the Police headquarters in Banjul.

The former police boss was jailed for life by the Jammeh regime in 2011 after a trial at the High Court.

His life sentence was commuted after he was pardoned by former President Yahya Jammeh.
