The Gambia senior football team has arrived in the country after their training camp in Saudi Arabia ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations championship in Ivory Coast.

Speaking to reporters shortly after their arrival at the Banjul International Airport, head coach Tom Saintfeit described their training camp in Saudi Arabia as “fruitful“ and expressed satisfaction with the performance of the selected players in the senior team for the AFCON championship.

“We had a short but good preparation in Saudi Arabia, and I am very satisfied with the players. They really showed that they are hard working,” he said.

Goalkeeper Baboucarr Gaye said they are fully prepared to take any team in the AFCON while Ibou Adams urged fans to get prepared for victory as they are ready to make a record-breaking history.

The Scorpions will hold a final training session at the Independence Stadium in Bakau before leaving for Ivory Coast on Wednesday January 10 for the Africa Cup of Nations championship.

The Gambia is placed in Group C with African champions and neighbours Senegal, along with Cameroon and Guinea.
