Omar Colley, the no-nonsense Gambian centre back and national team captain, has started training with his Turkish new club, Besiktas, after moving from his former Italian club, Sampdoria. 

Colley joined Besiktas last month on a permanent deal reported to be worth around €2.5m. 

Besiktas is currently in the Turkish Super League, has been preparing for their upcoming fixture against MKE Ankaragucu.

Colley, who is known for his strong defensive skills, is hopeful to make a breakthrough with his new team as well as continues to represent The Gambia in international competitions. 

The 30-year-old defensive player has been representing the country since 2005, first in the then U-17 team that was crowned champions of Africa U-17. 

Colley then rose through the ranks to become captain of the national team after the retirement of veteran Gambian defender PA Modou Jagne followinh their historic debut at the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon last year.
