The self-proclaimed Senegalese prophet Baba Malabe Mbackeroukhou has been arrested by police on pedophilia charges. 

The controversial religious leader who claims he is Prophet Essa and prays in the Fula language is accused of having a sexual relationship with a child. 

According to local reports the child is not his wife but was living in his house.  The sect which practiced their own religion have been accused of conducting child marriage. 

A large convoy of police and other security forces raided the village of Saré Ngagne on Thursday, January 14 to arrest Imam Baba Malabe. 

He is currently detained in Kolda police station while police carry out their investigation. 

His arrest was welcomed in Senegal where he has been accused of heresy.
