Flood victims in Serekunda have received food and cash support from generous donors in the town.

Musa Cham, the National Assembly member for Serekunda, yesterday (14 August) led a team of benefactors to distribute bags of rice and cash donations to the flood victims.

“We’ve given support to 80 families who were seriously affected by the floods. We have given each family a 25kg bags of rice and an envelope of 500 dalasis,” Mr Cham told reporters.

“For now, this is what we can offer as support, but we wish to continue giving more supports to the rest of the floods victims,” he said.

The lawmaker also lamented about the town’s poor drainage system that contributed to the recent floods after record-breaking rainfall.

“More than 500 people are affected in London Corner by the flood. And many of the victims are those renting whose food items and beds had been washed away by the flood,” Aji Saptieu Jaye, ward councillor for London Corner added.
