Sibanor United head coach Ebrima Camara has praised his players’ spirit and urged them to embrace the learning process after their historic first-ever appearance in the Gambia Football Federation Division Two ended in a 2–0 defeat to Baalor Sarr in the West Coast Region derby.
The Foni-based side made history at the Box Bar Mini Stadium, becoming the first men’s team from Foni to compete in the GFF Second Division League.

Goals from Malang Dacosta and Amadou Tamba secured victory for Baalor Sarr.
Coach Camara admitted there were nerves on the day but said the experience will help the players grow.
“In the first half the players were a bit nervous, which is understandable. It’s their first time playing in the Second Division — I think for all of them,” he said.
“It was a nervous moment, and I think that’s what Baalor capitalised on.”
Despite the loss, Camara remained upbeat and encouraged his squad to view the game as part of their development.
“This is also a path of learning. They will understand that in the first half we were this, and we would have been better if we approached it differently. That’s part of the process, and we have a long way to go,” he said.
“Our goal remains to establish ourselves in the Second Division and enjoy the moments. It’s a moment to enjoy and cherish.”
Sibanor United now turn their focus to their next fixture as they aim to build on their debut and make a strong impression in their maiden Second Division campaign.
