Singer One Pac has been lambasted over a Christmas promotional flyer where he mimicked Jesus Christ on the cross.

The image sparked outrage after the controversial rapper shared it online.

Many Gambians – Christians and Muslims – lashed out at the singer and demanded that he delete the photo from his Facebook page and to apologise to the Christian community.

The picture has been described by the Christian community as ‘blasphemy’.

Others criticised one of the rapper’s sponsors Gambia’s mobile telecommunication company, QCELL, who they accused of aiding the singer as the flyer contained the logo of the company.

But QCELL has issued a press release to distance itself from the singer.

QCELL said in a statement that it “strongly condemn in no uncertain terms the use of insensitive and offensive images that have caused concern in the Christian community in The Gambia and the use of our branding on such images is completely unacceptable.”

“QCELL has informed the promoter that we will not sponsor any show that features ‘One Pac’ and we have been assured that the artist will not be on the upcoming show,” the statement added.

One Pac is said to have apologised for his error of judgment.
