St Vincent De Paul Upper Basic School girls have been crowned champions of the Upper Basic category in the Region 2 West School Football qualifiers after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Gunjur Kunkujang Upper Basic School at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

Therese Mendy opened the scoring in the 18th minute to put St Vincent De Paul in front. After the break, Ndey Christine Prierra doubled their lead in the 58th minute, giving her team a comfortable advantage.

Gunjur Kunkujang pulled one back through Rugi Baldeh, who converted a penalty to make it 2-1, but St Vincent De Paul held on firmly to secure victory.

This win sees St Vincent De Paul Upper Basic School girls crowned regional champions and sets them up for the next stage of the national schools football championship, as they continue to showcase their strength and determination in girls’ football.
