Media personality Fatou Camara has fired back at critics who attacked her for inviting Europe-based Malian commentator Sekou Sembo Keita to the Heroes Awards.

Camara faced a wave of criticism on social media after Keita’s appearance at the event, with some online commentators alleging that she had invited a figure they claimed was associated with lifestyles they opposed.

The criticism triggered heated debate online, with some users questioning the decision to host the Malian guest at the prestigious awards ceremony.

Responding to the backlash, Camara dismissed the criticism and suggested that envy was behind many of the attacks.

“Guys, stop the jealousy, go work and stop wasting time online,” she said.

She also accused some of her critics of hypocrisy, arguing that many of those making accusations were not being honest about their own conduct.

The exchange has further fueled discussion around the Heroes Awards and the presence of international guests at Gambian events.

Neither Keita nor the critics targeted by Camara had publicly responded to her latest remarks at the time of publication.
