Police have confirmed the arrest of a man suspected of killing two police officers and seriously injuring another officer.

The suspect, identified as Ousainou Bojang from Brufut Bojang Kunda, was arrested in neighbouring Senegal after fleeing the country to the Casamance region. 

The officers who were on duty at Sukuta Traffic Light were gunned down last night. 

“The Office of The Inspector General of The Gambia Police Force can confidently confirm the successful arrest of Mr. Ousainou Bojang from Brufut Bojang Kunda in connection to the recent shooting at the Sukuta Traffic Light junction, which tragically resulted in the loss of two police officers’ lives and left one in critical condition,” police said.

Police added that the operation to apprehend the suspect was executed with precision, leading to his capture in Jululung, Casamance.

“Currently, the suspect is under police custody, and ongoing investigation aims to unveil the motives behind the shooting of the police officers,” police continued.
