Two teenage boys have been arrested after high-speed chase through traffic, which risked countless lives in an attempt to dodge arrest.
The drama unfolded near the GRTS building, where officers first spotted the teens pulling dangerous stunts. When the pair realised they were being tailed, they floored it, tearing through traffic all the way to Brikama.
What followed was 20 minutes of chaos on the highway, with the boys reportedly weaving between cars, ignoring traffic rules, and forcing other drivers to take evasive action.
“They were driving recklessly, hitting cars and endangering everyone,” said police spokesman ASP Modou Musa Sisawo, who was part of the pursuit.

“At one point, they crashed into another vehicle, and that slowed them down. That’s when we closed in. We used pepper spray, and they ditched the car and ran. They tried hiding in a store, but we called in backup from the PIU.”
Witnesses described terrifying near-misses as the teens sped through traffic like it was a racetrack.
“This could have ended in tragedy,” Sisawo added. “We’re taking them to court. The law must take its course, and this will serve as a warning to others.”
Police say the teens will face charges and could be made an example of as part of a crackdown on dangerous road stunts.
