Tom Saintfiet has been appointed head coach of Philippines national football team.

The Belgian tactician expressed joy for landing a job in Philippines as he promised to excel the team to its highest target.

“I am very proud to be in this beautiful country of yours. Together we want to write more history. We want to make you proud as a football community. And we are looking forward to this task,” he said.

Saintfiet, 50, was the former coach of The Gambia national football team.

He resigned from his role following the exit of the Scorpions at the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast.

He made history in leading Gambia to their first and second AFCON tournaments.
