The nation’s Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission has paid tribute to late Ebou Waggeh who died at his Kanifing home on Monday after a short illness.

And until his untimely death the veteran journalist and filmmaker was head of video documentation and processing at the TRRC. 

“The chairman, commissioners and members of staff of TRRC extend their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends and loved ones of the late Ebou Waggeh. May Allah grant him Jannah,” the TRRC said in a statement.

The late Mr Waggeh is fondly remembered for his brilliant documentaries which have received awards both locally and internationally.

He also worked for the national broadcaster GRTS where he was among the pioneer staff from the mid-90s. He was previously editor of Coopsed with the TRRC Communications Department News, the newsletter of then Gambia Cooperative Union among other places.

The media fraternity has also joined thousands of Gambians and non-Gambians in paying tributes to Mr Waggeh whose death is being described as a “huge loss”.
