Two Senegalese men have been arrested after 50 bundles of suspected cannabis was seized on a canoe in Barra. 

Drug Law Enforcement Agency officers in  Barra, North Bank Region (NBR) made the arrest yesterday (27 March). 

“Operatives of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia (DLEAG) stationed at Barra in the North Bank Region (NBR) apprehended two Senegalese nationals with a canoe packed with suspected cannabis sativa,” DLEAG said. 

The suspects Dawda Yadeh, 44, of Mburr and Kebba Cham, 18, of Kapantum in Senegal were arrested on Sunday morning at the beach side in Barra. 

According to DLEAG, the suspected prohibited drugs were wrapped in cement papers and placed in a canoe that was to be used to convey the prohibited drugs.  

The canoe, the suspected drugs and motorboat were seized as police investigation continues.
