The UNITE Movement of The Gambia has participated in the maiden congress of Senegal’s Pastef party, a landmark gathering that brought together more than 40 political parties and delegations from across Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, including representatives from Rwanda, Venezuela, Comoros, Guinea-Bissau, Palestine and Kenya.

The Gambian delegation, comprising Kanifing Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda, UNITE Deputy Leader Kemo Bojang and Campaign Manager MC Cham Jnr, joined delegates at the historic event in Dakar.

The congress also marked a significant moment for Pastef as Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko was elected president of the party, further consolidating his leadership of the political movement he founded.

UNITE described its participation as an opportunity to strengthen ties with like-minded political movements and engage in discussions on governance, democracy and youth-led political transformation across the continent.
