A dramatic video showing a traffic police officer clinging to the front of a moving vehicle has sparked widespread concern and debate on social media, with many questioning both the driver’s actions and the safety risks faced by law enforcement officers on the roads.
The footage, which has been widely shared online, shows a uniformed traffic officer holding onto the front of a vehicle as the driver continues moving along the road.
In the video, the car appears to speed away while the officer remains attached to the vehicle, creating a tense scene that drew alarm from bystanders.
At one point, the driver slows down after another vehicle partially blocks his path. Voices can be heard in the background urging intervention.

“Let’s stop him,” one bystander is heard saying, apparently referring to the driver, as concerns grew over the safety of the officer.
The circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear, and it is not immediately known why the driver allegedly failed to stop when confronted by the traffic officer.
The incident has generated strong reactions online, with many social media users expressing concern about the dangers posed both to the officer and to other road users.
Several commentators criticised the driver’s actions, arguing that refusing to stop for law enforcement could have resulted in serious injury or even death.
Others, however, questioned the tactics employed by traffic officers when dealing with motorists who refuse to comply with instructions.
“Traffic officers should stop jumping onto vehicles that refuse to stop. They are law enforcers, not ninjas auditioning for an action movie,” one social media user wrote.
Others called for police authorities to review operational procedures and prioritise officer safety by relying on vehicle registration details, pursuit protocols and other enforcement mechanisms rather than physically attempting to stop moving vehicles.
As of Friday evening, the Gambia Police Force had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
It also remains unclear whether the driver has been identified or whether any investigation has been launched.
The video has nevertheless reignited discussions about road safety, traffic enforcement practices and the risks faced by officers carrying out their duties on some of the country’s busiest roads.
