
The 8th AIPS Africa Congress is underway in Banjul, bringing together sports journalists from across the continent to discuss the future of Sports Media, Digital Innovation, Artificial Intelligence, and Ethical Sports Journalism In Africa.
The event is being hosted at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre.
In a notable speech, Omar Jarju, President of the Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia (SJAG), reflected on the significance of the congress for both The Gambia and African sports journalism.
“This congress is more than just a meeting; it is a milestone that underscores The Gambia’s growing presence within the international sports community,” Jarju said.
Mr Jarju further emphasised the transformative nature of the discussions taking place. “We are not just discussing trends; we are shaping the future narrative of African sports.”
Highlighting the value of collaboration, Jarju urged delegates to make the most of the gathering “I urge every delegate to use this platform for meaningful networking and strategic exchange.”
The congress provides a critical space for African sports journalists to share experiences, explore emerging technologies in media, and strengthen professional standards across the continent.
