Bai Sankareh, a former staunch supporter of the ruling National People’s Party (NPP), has opened up about the end of his friendship with presidential adviser Momodou Sabally.

He accused Sabally of betraying their relationship after securing a position under President Barrow’s administration.

Speaking to Kerr Fatou, Bai alleged that Sabally no longer takes his phone calls, despite being one of the people who encouraged Sabally to join the NPP from the United Democratic Party (UDP).

“He was my best friend, but I’ve cut ties with him ever since he claimed that the youth are happy. He had promised me that he would never betray his old friends.

“But after joining the party, whenever I called him, he would say, ‘I’ll call you back.’ He always said he was busy and would return my call. Eventually, I just stopped calling him,” Bai said.

He also claimed that Sabally had sought his opinion before leaving the UDP for the NPP, saying: “When he wanted to join the NPP, he asked for my support, saying, ‘I want to join the NPP, what do you think?’ I welcomed him. He even asked why we hadn’t benefited from anything, and I told him we are the founders of the party.”
