The National People’s Party (NPP) has distanced itself from what it describes as the “unauthorised collection of voter registration details and signatures from its members”.

In a statement, the party said it had not sanctioned any such activity and warned individuals allegedly going from community to community collecting personal data to stop immediately.

“The NPP has no involvement whatsoever in this exercise and hereby distances itself entirely from any individual or group engaged in this practice,” the party statement said.

While the motive behind the move remains unclear, the NPP urged its members and supporters to be cautious and not to share personal voter information with unauthorised individuals.

“We equally and strongly warn those involved in this unlawful and misleading act to immediately desist from such activities,” the statement added.

The party also called on grassroots members across the country to report any suspicious activity to the nearest party office.

“The protection of our members and the integrity of the party remain paramount,” the party said.
