The Gambia were held to a 1-1 draw by Uganda in an international friendly played in Marrakech, Morocco.

Scorpions head coach Johnathan McKinstry made six changes to the starting line-up that beat Equatorial Guinea 2-1 last week.

Ebrima Jarju started in goal ahead of Baboucarr Gaye, while captain Alasana Manneh, Momodou Lion Njie, Abdoulie Manneh, and Gibril Sillah retained their spots from the previous match.

Uganda opened the scoring midway through the first half via Rogers Mato, but The Gambia responded just before the break when Alasana Manneh converted from the penalty spot to level the score at halftime.

The match remained tightly contested in the second half, with limited chances for both sides. Youngster Francis Gomez made his debut late in the game and nearly grabbed a winner for The Gambia after weaving his way into the box, but his final touch let him down.

The result wraps up The Gambia’s two-match international break with one win and one draw against two AFCON-bound sides, offering McKinstry further insight as he continues to shape his squad ahead of the tournament.
