The Gambian President, Adama Barrow, has accused some Gambian media houses of trying to set the country on fire with the content they publish, warning against the dangers of violence.
Mr. Barrow made the remarks during a meeting with Muslim elders at State House to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, locally called Koriteh.
“There are some media houses whose main job is to set this country on fire. And we should do something about this. Most of these writers are young journalists who didn’t experience the 1981 coup,” he said.
Some Gambians have expressed their concerns about the president’s remarks, describing them as “worrisome”.
