President Adama Barrow has appointed an ally, Oreme Joiner, to the vacant deputy chairman post at the Independent Electoral Commission 11 months ahead of presidential election.

Mr Joiner, who until his appointment to the electoral body, was an executive member of the president’s National People’s Party. 

He was reported to have resigned from the NPP Banjul executive committee. 

Mr Joiner, commonly know as Remi, filled the IEC post that has been vacant since Malleh Sallah left last year.

He is a former General Manager of Trust Bank Limited.
