President Adama Barrow has held a telephone conversation with Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and addressing rising tensions in the Middle East.

According to a statement, the two leaders discussed cooperation in key areas including trade, investment, education and capacity building, reaffirming their commitment to deepening relations between The Gambia and Egypt.

They also exchanged views on recent developments in the Middle East, with President Barrow emphasising the need for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve conflicts.

Speaking in his capacity as Chair of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Barrow highlighted ongoing engagements with regional leaders aimed at promoting peace and stability.

He commended President Sisi for Egypt’s role in mediation efforts, describing it as key to advancing stability in the region.

Both leaders agreed to maintain close consultations on regional and international issues, signalling continued cooperation between the two countries.
