President Adama Barrow has expressed his readiness to work with the Gambian opposition on national developmental programmes.

Barrow made the call during a news conference with journalists held at the State House in Banjul, as he wrapped up his 18-day meet-the-people tour.

“I am very serious about this call. I think I am more than willing to sit down with the opposition and discuss the development of this country,” he told the news conference.

Barrow has been calling for a productive dialogue with the opposition amid rift with his former political party United Democratic Party.

According to him, it is prudent for him to sit down with every Gambian including the opposition politicians to discuss about the development of the country

“Basically, the most important thing is we are all Gambians. And if you are Gambian we are all working toward the development of this country. So, I think as a head of state it should be my responsibility and principle to listen to all Gambians, and listening to all Gambians will help in learning from each other,” he added.
