President Adama Barrow has said he is not bothered by criticism directed at him on social media and television platforms, insisting that only Gambian voters can determine who becomes president in the December polls.

Speaking on the country’s political landscape ahead of the 2026 presidential election, Barrow said online commentators and critics do not influence the democratic process.
“I’m not bothered by those who sit online and on TVs critiquing President Barrow,” he said.

The President argued that the decision on who leads the country rests entirely with the electorate and not with political commentators or critics.

“If Gambians vote me in power again, you won’t be able to do anything about it, only to be heartbroken,” Barrow said.

He further stressed that nobody can force their way to the presidency, noting that leadership is determined through the ballot box.

“You cannot force your way to the presidency. That decision will be done by Gambians,” he stated.

Barrow added that once a leader is elected, all citizens should rally behind that person in the interest of national development.

“Anyone they vote in power, we all follow that person and develop this country,” he added.

His remarks come as political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of December presidential election, with parties and prospective candidates stepping up engagements with supporters across the country.
