President Adama Barrow has described opposition leaders as “apprentices” compared to him when it comes to delivering development projects.
Speaking at his residence in Mankamang Kunda before a delegation from Sandu, Basse Manneh Kunda and other Central River Region communities, Barrow praised his government’s record, saying his projects have brought tangible benefits across the country.
“When I started politics, I was an apprentice, but today I am the master. All the opposition groups are my apprentices; their master is President Barrow,” he told the gathering.
The president compared running the country to driving a vehicle, asking rhetorically whether anyone would replace an experienced driver with an unqualified one.
“Will you take the vehicle from that driver and give it to a new one without experience or qualifications?” he asked.
Barrow expressed confidence that his National People’s Party (NPP) will face an easier campaign, insisting that his administration’s achievements speak louder than the opposition’s promises.
“Saying I will do it for you and saying I have done it for you are two different things,” he said.
He pledged to continue expanding electricity supply to rural areas and urged citizens to be patient, reminding them that development “takes time and cannot be achieved overnight.”
