President Adama Barrow has taken a swipe at the physical strength of United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Ousainu Darboe during a political rally in the North Bank Region.
Speaking in Ngayen Sanjal, Sabach Sanjal, during his 2026 Meet the People Tour, Barrow said he knew the veteran opposition leader was not physically strong, suggesting that even a slight shake could affect his entire body.
Despite the remarks, Barrow said he would not underestimate Darboe or other political opponents ahead of the December 5 presidential election.

Barrow, who is seeking a third term, also urged supporters of the National People’s Party (NPP) not to become complacent and to continue mobilising until election day.
“Underestimating our opponents can cause difficulties,” he said, while insisting that staying organised would secure victory.
The president said his government had made significant development gains since taking office in 2017, but argued that more remained to be done. He promised further development between 2026 and 2031 if re-elected.
Barrow also described himself as the driving force behind his government’s development agenda, referring to others involved as his “apprentices”.

Earlier during the tour, he pledged to “retire” Darboe in the December election.
The 19-day Meet the People Tour began on October 1 and includes rallies, project visits and inauguration ceremonies across the country.
