President Adama Barrow has issued a strong warning to Gambians campaigning against his possible third-term bid, accusing supporters of the United Democratic Party (UDP) of driving the movement.

In recent weeks, a segment of the public has intensified calls on social media urging the president not to seek a third term in office.

Speaking at a rally in Banjul, President Barrow vowed to set “an unforgettable example” for anyone attempting to prevent him from contesting the 2026 presidential election.

He accused members of the opposition UDP of being behind the renewed campaign.

“Three Years Jotna were UDP, and they know how we dealt with them. Now they say no to a third term, and we are waiting for them,” he said.

“I will go for a third term, a fourth term and even a fifth term if they say I should not. Anything they say I should not do is what I will do, because I know it is what is good for me. Even if they say I should step into a fire, I will step into it,” he added.
