President Barrow was recognised for his efforts in “promoting peace and human dignity, and is an inspiration for other African leaders to emulate him in building a peaceful and prosperous future for the African continent”.

Reacting to the news, President Barrow expressed gratitude for the award.

“I am grateful to receive such news. It is a great honour to follow the footsteps of people like Former President Muhammad Buhari in receiving this recognition,” he said.

Barrow will received the award in January in the Republic of Mauritania.
