The Police chief Mamour Jobe has died suddenly according to reports

The Gambia’s Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Mamour Jobe, has died suddenly. 

The cause of death is yet unknown but according to reports the former police chief passed away this afternoon (Feb 13) at the Medicare Clinic.

Mr Jobe was appointed Inspector General of Police on July 9, 2018 few days after the resignation of Landing Kinteh following the death of four protesters at Faraba Banta.

The late IGP Jobe’s a veteran of The Gambia Police Force and has served in various units of the police for 40 years.

His last public appearance was at the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) on March 3. 

He was grilled by the Commission over alleged forged diaries by the police to cover up the massacre of West African migrants in July 2005.
