Dawda A Jallow, minister of Justice and Attorney General, has confirmed government’s approval to prosecute exiled former President Yahya Jammeh for his alleged attrocites.

Jammeh, who turns 57 years old today, has been accused of committing human rights crimes including ordering the extrajudicial killing and torture of his political opponents during his 22-year rule.

Meanwhile, the Gambia government today released the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission’s White Paper, held at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Conference Centre.

“What I can say for certain, the former President Yahya Jammeh will face justice. The modalities of how we go about this is being worked on,” Justice minister Dawda A Jallow told a news conference shortly after the released of the White Paper.

“We are working on a prosecution strategies that will inform the process about it. In any event, President Jammeh will face justice for the attrocities that he committed in this country,” he added.
