That is the heartfelt plea from Lamin Darboe, popularly known as “FIFA”, whose message has struck a chord with football supporters across The Gambia.
“We want to watch our AFCON qualification matches in our own stadium,” he said.
It is a simple statement, but one that reflects years of frustration among Gambian fans who have been unable to watch the national team play competitive home matches on Gambian soil.
Because The Gambia does not currently have a CAF-approved stadium, the Scorpions have been forced to host their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Morocco.

While the team continues to represent the country with pride on the continental stage, supporters have been denied the unique experience of cheering them on from the stands at home.
For many fans, the issue goes beyond football. Home matches bring communities together, inspire young players and create unforgettable national moments. They also provide an economic boost for local businesses and reinforce the bond between the team and its supporters.
Instead, Gambians have had to follow crucial qualifiers from television screens and mobile phones, celebrating victories and enduring defeats from afar while opposing teams enjoy the advantage of playing in front of their own fans.
