The Parties to the CHANGE Coalition have adopted a draft Coalition Agreement in principle, as negotiations continue to bring more opposition parties and political movements into one alliance.

In a statement signed by Dr. Jaye Krubally, APeX Chairperson, and Mr. Demba Ali Jawo, APeX Outreach Lead, the coalition said the agreement is subject to final discussions on the coalition’s flagbearer, which the parties aim to conclude by Sunday, September 6, 2026.

The coalition said its negotiating framework allows individual parties to engage with other political parties, movements and presidential aspirants to strengthen their positions.

It also clarified that the draft agreement recognises the UDP-led alliance as a legitimate political grouping.

The coalition said its efforts now include APP Sobeyaa, GFA, Tabax Rewmi movement and the UDP alliance, alongside other registered political parties and political movements.

The parties have renewed their invitation to other opposition groups and aspiring candidates to join what they describe as an emerging grand opposition coalition.

APeX, which has served as the impartial convening body, commended the parties and their partners for their continued engagement over the past 19 months.

The coalition also thanked the Gambian public for its patience, interest and support throughout the negotiations.
