The leader of United Democratic Party (UDP), Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, has called for the removal and prosecution of Agriculture Minister Dr Demba Sabally over alleged remarks inciting violence.
Speaking at a rally in New Yundum Darboe urged President Adama Barrow to take swift action against Dr Sabally.

“President Barrow, you were recently awarded a peace prize in Mauritania,” Darboe said.
“If you are truly a man of peace, now is the time to remove Dr Sabally from your cabinet, expel him from the NPP party, and subject him to prosecution.”
He described the minister’s comments at a recent political gathering as potentially inflammatory and said they risked provoking violence.
“If you want to show Gambians that you are committed to peace and constitutional order, you must distance yourself from those who seek to incite violence,” he added.
He also warned that if President Barrow supports Sabally’s remarks, he should keep him in his cabinet, adding, “Then we will know what kind of leader you are.”
